Beach

The Beach at Crackington Haven, walking distance.

The Old Shippon was converted from the Old Milking Parlour and is situated on the banks of the stream which leads through the valley bottom to the beach at Crackington Haven.

The Old Shippon is one of our Mineshop Selfcatering Holiday Cottages. Mineshop was named in two parts, "Mine" after the two working Zinc Mines, which were located in the Valley and "Shop" after the Blacksmiths Shop now known as The Old Smithy. The Mine was closed in the early forties and the Blacksmiths Shop sometime in the late Fifties.
We moved to Mineshop in 1966 and converted/built the Cottages soon after, before this the Lee family owned the Valley and ran a Market Garden, growing Potatoes, Vegetables, Daffodils, Strawberries etc, on the whole of the South facing side of the valley, all this was before the days of large machinery and was done solely by hand! In the spring the Daffodils which still grow in the Valley are a picture.
