Nestling on the side of a hill with tranquil views overlooking the Lot River Valley, 12th century Chateau Laroque-Toirac and our pretty stone village of Ambeyrac this tastefully restored cottage has patios from which you can relax and enjoy the sunny southerly aspect and the magnificent views to the west or escape from the sun on the rear decking.
The village has a small shop open daily and a good butchers just a few minutes walk away.
Benefit from the warmth of the south west weather in stunning surroundings of valleys with rocky cliffs and colourful wild plateaux. The Lot valley is a paradise for walkers, road and mountain bike enthusiasts with walks and rides from the door. Ideally situated between many riverside market towns full of history and beautiful architecture.

A car is recommended in order to get around easily though we have guests who get the train then bus and just stay in the immediate area, exploring by foot only.
The closest railway station is Figeac (18kms away) which is 6 hrs by train from Paris.
Driving down from Dieppe is 7.5 to 8hrs & 9hrs from Calais.

Living RoomsThe kitchen, dining room and the lounge are all open plan on the same floor. Very generous proportions, very pretty and due to the incredibly thick stone walls it keeps cool in summer and with the electric radiators and the log burner it is very cozy for winter lets!
Other roomsThere is a large 'cave' underneath the cottage which was tradionally used for storing food & vegetables and is ideal for storing bikes, prams or roof boxes etc.
External facilitiesThere are terraces to the front and side of the cottage which benefit from the sun and the great views plus a cool, shady decked area behind the house.
There are patio tables & chairs provided plus deck chairs.

Additional informationWhilst not centrally heated there are electric radiators and a large log burner which make this cottage popular for winter lets.

We welcome children but whilst we consider our cottage to be reasonably child friendly we stress that unruly kids or stumbling toddlers could be in danger should they fall or trip over the low stone wall that skirts the front terrace as there is a 10ft drop to the lane below!

Management
CleaningCleaning is done by us on changeover days only but we do expect the cottage to be left as clean as possible otherwise a £30 cleaning charge is added. You can ask us to add this upfront if you know you won't be able to clean before leaving.
Is bed Linen providedYes, bed linen is provided. Linen is provided at no extra cost and is usually changed on changeover days or by other arrangement based on the length of the let.
Are towels providedNo, please bring your own towels.

Throughout the summer the area is bustling with different events including music festivals (eg Africajarc at the end of July), International Fireworks competition (half an hour away), village Fétes, brocantes and night markets. Activities nearby include canoeing on the célé, the Lot, the Tarn and the Aveyron rivers; swimming (public pools 10 miles, river swimming nearby); horse riding; biking (excellent mountain biking tracks all around); bird watching; visiting the prehistoric caves at Lacave, Pech Merle or Foissac and others; enjoying the local villages and colourful markets; and of course visiting the better known hilltop and cliffside towns or Rocamadour, St Cirq Lapopie, Cordes Sur Ciel and Najac to name but a few. Plenty of local centres offer organised rock climbing and potholing in addition to the above activities.
 
Further Details
Our local village shop (1 minute walk from the cottage)stocks an amazing amount of provisions for such a tiny shop and is open daily. No longer baking their own bread they now get a daily bread delivery and sell patisseries on Sundays.
We also have an excellent butchers in the village run by a very friendly and helpful family. They usually open just 3 mornings a week though sometimes more in summer.
For supermarkets, other shops, bars & restaurants you have the choice between Cajarc, Figeac, Villeneuve and Villefrance (all 20 to 25 minutes drive away) and all of which have great local weekly markets.

Booking Notes
For a confirmed booking we need completion of a booking form which we will e-mail to you and which we need returned along with a non-refundable booking deposit of £50 per week booked. The balance is then payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. No security/breakage deposit required (unless guests start letting us down!) and if you can advise us of an approximate arrival time we will be around to check you in.
