Granada Welcome to Truly Spanish Casa Valero, Montefrío. We can offer you a taste of true Spanish life in a setting with real Spanish character. A delightful B&B retaining the Spanish features; just introducing a few home-comforts. Twin Bedded Rooms with ensuite and double showers.
We have all been to Spain at some time or other, but have we been to the real Spain? We can offer you a taste of true Spanish life in a setting with real Spanish character. We have just completed converting this 100 year-old Finca (Spanish farmhouse) into a delightful B&B retaining the Spanish features; just introducing a few home-comforts.
Surrounded by acres of olive trees you can get a sense of the real Spain whilst soaking up the glorious views, either by sitting around the pool or going for a stroll around the many picturesque villages that are all within a few minutes drive of Casa Valero. From within the olives you are able to see the peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountains, snowcapped for most of the year.
The 38' courtyard is covered with grapes of different varieties, providing shade from the midday sun. The courtyard is a perfect sitting area in which to relax and take in the mountain air. However, breakfast is served on our rear patio, letting you appreciate again the stunning views that surround Casa Valero.
Once a week during peak season, guests will be offered a BBQ for a small fee which will include as much food as you can eat and as much sangria as you can drink. In our reception we will offer complimentary coffee.

Activities
This area of Southern Spain is spectacular with its stunning views and the only traffic you are likely to encounter is the shepherds with their goats. This is also ideal for activity holidays – with scenic walks, cliffs to climb, thousands of kilometres of tracks to explore on two wheels, fantastic scenery to paint, draw and photograph. Cyclists are provided with picturesque roads and breathtaking views. Many of the cycling clubs use the hills in Andalucia for training purposes.
Skiing
There are so many things to do whilst in the Granada region, for all tastes. The Sierra Nevada mountains are only an hour's drive away from Casa Valero, so should you wish to ski in the winter and enjoy lower rates for accommodation - again we can offer just what you are looking for.
Further Details
Montefrío has been built around La Villa. The closest streets to La Villa are the oldest ones. Among these are the quarters of El Arrabal and La Solana, with narrow windy roads. Montefrío is the ideal place to relax and forget the stress of a large city. Fewer than 7000 people live here, and the most important source of income is farming, especially the production of olive oil of very high quality. The landscape of the countryside is mountainous and full of olive groves.
If what you are looking for is a place far from the well known seaside resorts, without mass tourism; where people are kind to visitors and life moves at a slow pace; where things are more natural and you are surrounded by countryside after walking just 500m, this is the place for you.
The village does have modern facilities too. There are several banks, cash machines, supermarkets, a tourist office, lots of bars and restaurants - and even a couple of discos for young people. There are public sports facilities, a medical centre open round-the-clock and a magnificent public swimming pool with low prices, which opens in summertime.
The people in Montefrío are friendly and open. They are always willing to help a visitor who wants to know anything.
Whichever direction you take a short drive will take you into one of the many small Spanish towns where you will find a variety of bars and restaurants. Market days are as follows:-
Monday – Montefrio
Tuesday – Alcala La Real
Saturday – Priego De Cordoba
Sunday – Granada
There is the old city of Granada to explore, with its many different districts and interesting architecture. There are many little villages around, of which Montefrio is the most beautiful with all its narrow streets of quaint shops. Alcala La Real is a much larger town, however still holds its beauty with all the old Spanish buildings and it has far more shops/bars and restaurants to choose from.
